As an independent stylist, my pricing reflects the full scope of what it takes to operate a sustainable, high-quality business. Unlike commission-based salons, I am solely responsible for all operating expenses, including professional products, tools, continuing education, insurance, taxes, health care, and retirement planning. Like many small business owners, these costs continue to rise each year, and my pricing must adjust accordingly to ensure I can continue providing the level of service and experience my clients expect.
I also want to be transparent that I am entering the final phase of my career, with plans to retire within the next 10 years. As part of this transition, I am intentionally lightening my daily client load and focusing on maximizing the value of my chair time. This allows me to maintain my standards, protect my physical well-being, and create a sustainable path toward retirement while continuing to serve my clients at a high level.
For many years, I have been able to extend loyalty discounts to longtime clients, and I am deeply grateful for your continued support. As I move into this next chapter, I will no longer be able to offer discounted services. Rising operating costs and the need to properly prepare for retirement make this change necessary.
I understand that pricing adjustments may not fit every budget. If you decide that continuing your hair journey with me is no longer the right choice for you, I completely respect and appreciate that decision. I am truly grateful for your trust, your support, and the time we have shared over the years.
Please note that if you previously had a “Short Haircut” scheduled, it has automatically been updated to the new “No Frills Haircut” service. This option is designed for short haircut guests who prefer a streamlined appointment without the added extras of a fully scheduled haircut, and it aligns with my updated service structure and pricing moving forward.
Lastly, my online scheduling system has been updated. Appointments may now be scheduled or adjusted online up to a maximum of 180 days in advance.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me personally. I am always happy to connect.
Warm regards,
Kevin Michael

There is a saying that if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life! I absolutely love what I do!
I was raised and spent most of my young life in Mobile, Alabama. I moved to Sacramento, CA in 2000.
After working at a cosmetology school for three years, I yearned to be back in the salon environment and started building my Sacramento based clientele in 2003. In 2005, I was presented with an opportunity to open a salon in midtown Sacramento; ninety days later (October 2005) Kevin Michael Salon was born.
Since that time I have come to know and work with some very talented stylists, estheticians, and educators. I feel fortunate to have surrounded myself with a dedicated staff that agrees on the same fundamental salon skills as I do:
-
Customer satisfaction & service is my number one goal
-
Clients deserve to come to an impeccably clean, comfortable environment
-
Clients receive quality services at an affordable price point.
Being raised in the deep south gives me a strong built-in sense of “southern hospitality”. No need to stop at Starbucks on your way in, we have fresh hot coffee, a variety of teas, cocoa, bottled water, wine & beer. Make yourself at home and leave the serious hair work to us!
